Lies...

In conversation we weave in our lies
where the truth in our hearts is kept
Weakness, in public, our tongue decries
forgetting memories under rugs we swept

Why can’t we put our truths in front
and for our sins we face the brunt?
The bible says that truth will set us free
so why do we lie... Why can’t we see?

A cloak of lies we sew in vain
can’t we see it is the plague?
We dress in filth to soothe our pain
and live a life fruitless and vague

For me a lie waits like a reaper
In little doses grows like a creeper
waiting to devour the guilty sleeper
to corrupt the core, darker, and deeper

They say perfect love casts out all fear
perhaps the bible offers a clue
that if I hold you close, and draw you near
you’ll drop your lies, and simply be you.

  1. Still, it's so much easier to live within a fence and beneath a roof of lies than to step out into the light of truth. So much easier.
